To help area companies know, understand and achieve sustainable objectives, Workforce Development is offering courses in Green Academy Education. Taught by experts, it is expected that this series quickly will become an important, valuable and highly sought after program.

Program Overview
1. Intro to Home Performance (Residential Building Program, Sustainability Series)
This training will give individuals the knowledge they need to understand the major aspects of home performance including building science and “house as a system” approach while incorporating green building practices. Learn the relationship between all the systems in the house and the effects on health, safety, comfort and efficiency.
CEUs
Earn CEU’s from the Ohio Board of Building Standards and Building Performance Institute (BPI). Currently pending with National Associates Remodeling Industry (NARI).

This workshop is designed for general contractors and architects, subcontractors, builders and remodelers, realtors, bankers/lenders, housing inspectors, HVAC contractors, insulators, environmentalists, major retailers/suppliers and homeowners! 2. Intro to Renewable Energy (Residential Building Program, Sustainability Series)
This training will give individuals an introduction to common sources of alternative energy, including small wind turbines, and solar photo voltaic, and solar thermal devices. Major topics include history, component parts, field applications, basic designs, investment and return strategies, government regulations, comparative efficiencies and the overall importance of energy efficiency.

3. Entry Level Photovoltaic (Solar) System Installation Training
| This five-day intensive training teaches the basic technology and skills required for entry level knowledge of the design and installation of solar photovoltaic systems. These skills do not replace electrical, technical and engineering trades; rather they are appropriate for a supervised position with a PV installer or other PV industry company. |  |

4. BPI's Building Analyst Certification (Home Energy Auditor) Training
Our homes produce nearly 20% of the nation’s carbon footprint. The ability to make homes more energy efficient represents a potential one-third reduction in energy usage and a corresponding reduction of over 262 million metric tons of greenhouse gases while creating 220,000 jobs. To accomplish this task, energy analyst training programs are being rapidly established to provide professionals and college graduates with the skills to analyze structures for weatherization and efficiency improvements. Applying these green building and renovation techniques will position candidates to enter the emerging $60 billion green construction market.
Building Performance Institute (BPI) offers nationally recognized training, certification, accreditation and quality assurance programs in home performance contracting. Certified BPI professionals understand that the relationship between all interconnected systems of the house is the key to its overall performance, efficiency, and durability. They are trained to quickly target, diagnose, and solve household performance problems.

5. Incorporating Green into New & Existing Buildings
Are you interested in what makes a building green? How to remodel or build a green building? This Workshop will introduce you to sustainable green building from energy efficiency, green materials, indoor environmental quality, and use of renewable energy.
The Workshop will introduce the attendees to green buildings. It will define sustainability, green buildings and why they are important. Each of the divisions of the LEED rating; site, water, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality will be discussed with examples of features that promote sustainability. With the heightened interest in energy use, energy efficiency and renewable energy will be discussed in more detail. The session will end with case studies to further illustrate green buildings and their features.

“Green” and “Sustainability” have become synonymous with high-performance buildings that reduce consumption of energy and raw materials, and improve the indoor environment. This seminar explores the components of sustainable design and construction, and lays out the benefits of going green. It will also:
